The plain-English agreement for using 4Ducks Budget and the optional 4Ducks Sync subscription. The app is free to use, offline, forever; Sync is the one optional paid service, sold here on the website. Here’s how it all works.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Tygertec LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”), the maker of 4Ducks Budget. They cover your use of the 4Ducks Budget mobile apps and our optional subscription service, 4Ducks Sync.
By downloading or using the app, creating an account, or subscribing to 4Ducks Sync, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use 4Ducks Sync. (You can still use the 4Ducks Budget app itself as described below.)
We’ve tried to write these in plain English. Where something is a legal term, it means what it usually means.
The 4Ducks Budget app has no subscription. Once it’s on your device, every budgeting feature — expenses, savings goals, your debt-free date, bill reminders, and local backup — works offline, with no account and no recurring fee, for as long as you use it. (Depending on your platform and app store, the app may be free to download or a one-time purchase; either way, there’s nothing recurring to use it.)
4Ducks Sync is a separate, optional, recurring subscription that backs up your budget to our servers and keeps it in sync across your devices and the web. These Terms apply to everyone, but the subscription, billing, and cancellation sections only matter if you choose to subscribe to Sync.
If your Sync subscription ever lapses, you keep your budget and every app feature — you simply stop syncing new changes between devices. We never charge a recurring fee just to use your own budget.
You don’t need an account to use the 4Ducks Budget app. You do need an account to use 4Ducks Sync.
When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login credentials secure. You’re responsible for activity that happens under your account. Let us know promptly if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to subscribe to 4Ducks Sync.
4Ducks Sync is a recurring subscription, sold and managed here on this website — not inside the app. Current pricing:
Prices are tax-inclusive worldwide: the price you see is the price you pay, with any applicable VAT/GST included.
Your subscription is billed in advance and renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price for your plan, until you cancel. If we ever change the price, the new price applies to your renewals only after we’ve given you notice — and early subscribers keep their original rate for the life of the subscription.
You can cancel at any time using the account-management link in your purchase receipt from Paddle (see “Merchant of record” below).
When you cancel, Sync stays active until the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for, and you won’t be charged again. Cancelling never deletes your budget data — it stays on your devices, and the app keeps working exactly as before.
4Ducks Sync is backed by a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you’d like a refund, request one within 14 days of a charge and we’ll refund it — no questions asked.
Full details, including how to request a refund and how it’s processed, are in our Refund Policy. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
Payments for 4Ducks Sync are processed by Paddle.com, our merchant of record and reseller. This means Paddle — not Tygertec LLC — is the seller of record for your subscription: Paddle handles the transaction, billing, renewals, refunds, and the collection and remittance of sales tax / VAT / GST, and “Paddle” (or a similar descriptor) will appear on your card or bank statement.
Your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s Buyer Terms and Conditions. Questions about a specific charge can go to Paddle directly via the account-management link in your receipt, or to us through our contact form.
4Ducks Sync is for managing your own budget data. Please don’t:
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or put the service or other users at risk.
Your budget is yours. When you use Sync, your budget data is encrypted at rest on our servers. We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and never require you to connect a bank account.
How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms. You’re responsible for the content of the data you sync, and for keeping your own local backups (the .4dbudget export remains available in the app).
We work to keep 4Ducks Sync reliable, but it’s provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available, and we may add, change, or remove features over time.
If we ever need to discontinue 4Ducks Sync, we’ll give reasonable notice and a way to export your data. Because your budget always lives on your device and the app keeps working offline, discontinuing Sync would never leave you locked out of your own budget.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tygertec LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) 4Ducks Budget or 4Ducks Sync.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for 4Ducks Sync in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, or your statutory consumer rights.
